FIP Warrior:

Wasabi

Wasabi is just over a year old. He started getting sick in August.  He was lethargic, not eating, not grooming and running a fever. He was given antibiotics and seemed to improve. After the course he started getting sick again. We tested for many things, all negative.  He did a 2 week course of another antibiotic and steroids and seemed to improve.  Then he wasn't.  More bloodwork, then the diagnosis of FIP, Dry form.  He has never had any fluid. He still had a fever of 105.  Was down to just over 6lb and looked like death.  His lab work was indicative for FIP in as much as it could be. Fortunately we were able to start Mutian capsules the day after diagnosis.  He was also given fluids and fever reducer.  Within 24 hours the difference was amazing.  He was not as lethargic, he was somewhat interested in food. During the first week or two he still did not seem to be eating, but was gaining weight a little at a time.  His fur looked so much better, he was playing.  Then he started eating like no tomorrow. His 30 bloodwork showed so much improvement, with a few values now normal.

We are on day 51 on Dec 15. Wasabi is holding steady at 9.1lbs. He is like a healthy cat.  Fever has not returned. His fur is back to how it was prior to being sick.  He grooms. He eats. He drinks.  He plays.

We had 1 hiccup during treatment.  He was starting to be a bit lethargic.  However he was at the very start of an upper respiratory infection and was a bit anemic.  He was put on antibiotics and was feeling better the next day. He is getting weekly b12 injections.

Without treatment Wasabi would be dead.
