FIP Warrior:

Theo

Hello! This is Theo, a 9 month old kitten who was adopted with his littermate, Lucia, back in November of 2020 from Kitten Rescue LA when they were 5 months old. (Theo is on the left)

Theo's a curious, playful and cuddly little man who always loved to jump up to anywhere he could! He loves to watch tv with me and swat at the birds in the nature documentaries we watched. He'd run and chase and play with his sister, Lucia. His favorite toy was the little leaf mint stick you can see below. He'd always be eager for meal time, eyeing me from the other side of the counter as I prepped his food. He'd plop himself down and snuggle in my lap often. In a time of uncertainty with the pandemic and being isolated while WFH, these two became an extra light in my life. A source of happiness and emotional support, during these rough times. Below are some more photos of Theo pre-FIP diagnosis:

Over the past week or two, I noticed his behavior changing. He became more lethargic, didn't have much energy to play with toys or his sister. He started to hide under the bed, cubbies in the bathroom, being pretty stubborn about not wanting to come out. He wasn't his curious, playful and happy little self.

Saturday (March 14th, 2021), I noticed more odd behavior: constantly scratching and grooming himself in the same areas. Little tufts of fur would come off. He was meowing and not using his litter box After quarantining him away from his littermate that night, I took him to the Emergency Vet Clinic where they ran ultrasounds and other tests. Yellow, high protein fluid was found in his abdomen and many of the tests pointed towards a grave diagnosis.  He was diagnosed with Suspected Wet FIP and I was directed to research support groups. I've been in contact with these groups since and have began to gather what was necessary to begin treatment.

Here are some pictures of him while experiencing FIP symptoms / Post Emergency Clinic Visit:

I started this gofundme because I am a recent grad, with not much money to spare after living expenses and loans. As much as I wish I could, I cannot do this on my own. All money raised will go towards his treatment expenses including: Medications/Supplements, Syringes/needles, Vet check ups & tests. If money raised exceeds what is needed, extra will be donated to support groups dedicated to other cats struggling with FIP.

Any and all help towards giving Theo a fighting chance is greatly appreciated. Him and his sister mean the world to me and I would love to be able to give them the long, happy and loving life they deserve together.

Thank you so much for reading and for any amount of support you can offer.

All the love and hugs,
Lauren
