FIP Warrior:

Seuss

Seuss was determined to have wet form FIP with occular/neuro symptoms on December 26, 2020. It was recommended by the emergency vet that he be hospitalized for more tests, but having been down that road with another FIP warrior in September, who did not survive due to spending time in the hospital instead of getting the GS in time, we declined. We took Seuss home and immediately began GS treatment. We still had a vial of medication from our FIP Angel, Elliott. Seuss at the start was totally blind, with failing kidneys, pancreas, and liver. He had abdominal fluid that was pressing on his lungs and other organs. He had diminished motor activity, trouble with balance and rear legs were unable to move normally. He was lethargic and would not eat. After a few days of treatment, he regained his appetite and started being more active. In a few weeks, he was playing and acting more like himself. His balance returned, and he no longer seemed as confused. His eyes remained completely dilated, and after seeing an ophthalmologist, it was determined that he had two detached retinas. Seuss totally regained his health with perfect bloodwork, but he will remain blind. He has learned to adapt to his condition, and navigates the house with ease. At about the 70th day, Seuss lost energy, stopped playing, and was lying down to eat. He had a neuro relapse and GS dose had to be doubled. He has gradually returned to the pre-relapse condition, and is free of symptoms. But treatment has been extended due to the relapse. He is currently on Day 89 and today is his first birthday!

UPDATE: FIP Warrior Seuss has completed his observation period and is considered cured!
