FIP Warrior:

Sami

Sami's story starts on the evening of May 2, 2021 whenever  I came home from a day of shopping and noticed that she seemed a little bit under the weather.  The normally very playful Sami wasn't interested in her supper nor did she have any interest in any physical activity.  The next day was the same thing, with Tuesday getting worse when Sami barely moved off my bed.  On Wednesday I took her to the vet where they ran multiple tests that determined a very probable diagnosis of FIP.  She also lost 2-3 pounds.  Our vet informed me of the FIP Warriors Facebook group, which seemed like a long road but also very promising.  It was either that or euthanize my 23 month old kitty.  After some consideration I joined FIP Warriors and met up with a fellow Warrior mom in a nearby town so we could start the injections the following week.  To my surprise, Sami started showing signs of improvement after fewer than 18 hours.  Within a few days she was acting like her old self again, eating full meals and even playing fetch with her toy fish and mice!  The shots were huge challenge, but thankfully she was able to graduate to pills after four weeks of treatment and never looked back!  Her last day of medication was Sunday, August 1. During this time she gained back the weight she lost and then some!  Her last day of observation was Sunday, October 24th and she was officially declared cured on Friday November 5.  Thanks to FIP Warriors, Sami still has many years of life left in her.  Her favorite activities are looking out the window, playing with her fish and mice, and tormenting her sister Cleo.  Thank you FIP Warriors!!  :)
