FIP Warrior:

Percy

I got my first ever cat November 18th 2020. Originally Carly but changed her name to Faith. I took her to the vet because she was sneezing a lot with blood and diarrhea. The vet called me and told my my beautiful girl was in fact a boy. I then renamed him again to Percy. He stopped eating and moving around or cleaning himself so I brought him
Back to the vet and he saw a different doctor. The vet suspected FIP. I said ok well what is that and she explained that usually it was a death sentence, but within the last 2 years a vaccine had come out and has helped so many cats. I was devastated I just got him he was so young how can’t this be?! Then she told me to look into an FIP WARRIOR group on Facebook and they could help me get the medication and help me along the way. It was very stressful trying to decide if I was going to do the treatment because of the cost, the lengthy time of treatment with injections (I HATE needles) and that it was black market and seemed shady. I decided to take the leap and start treatment for my boy. He started showing improvement pretty much right away. And at week 2 was completely back to his normal self. This treatment is a God send. And the support groups have been helping me so much. Injection time is very difficult and tried meds to calm him and they don’t seem to work. I would love to switch to pills but they are even more expensive. He gets a large dose because he was given an injection of a steroid that interferes with the meds so he gets 2.1ml for another couple weeks. Then I can lower the dose. But still the pills are much more expensive. We also have those labs to do which will add up. I have been going through my own personal issues and have not worked since mid December. The process has been emotionally and financially draining, but I am so grateful to see my boy doing so well with treatment.

UPDATE: As of 7/10/2021 FIP Warrior Percy is considered cured and is now FIP Survivor Percy.
