FIP Warrior:

Loma

Loma always had a huge appetite and was growing up to be a big boy. As his 2nd birthday approached we noticed that he suddenly stopped eating and lost weight drastically in less than a week. The vet ran bloodwork , provided fluids, a cerenia injection and appetite stimulant. The vet suspected dry FIP could be in play at this time but Loma responded to the fluids and cerenia. His appetite came back and he seemed back to himself for next 2 months until December 23 when we rushed Loma to emergency vet when we noticed his back legs weren’t working. More bloodwork and labs between Emergency Vet and regular vet and both were very worried about dry FIP. Labs ruled other potential causes out. That night, Loma stayed in his bed and didn’t get up to eat, drink or use litter pan. This improved after a couple days on steroids at what point I learned more about GS. Loma has been on GS for two weeks now. He’s gained almost 2 pounds and his mobility and appetite seem to be back to himself. My son’s first cat died at same age from lymphoma. We couldn’t bear to lose another young cat and so we decided to fight! We aren’t quite halfway through treatment but remain hopeful. Our hearts break for all of the beautiful cats that have been lost by their loving families. Like so many others, we struggle to pay for every order of injections. After we get through this I intend to donate to the general research fund. A cure needs to be affordable for all of these beautiful fur kids. #Team Loma
