Our 15 year old rescue calico, my first baby, had to put to sleep on July 28 of this year out of compassion for her end of life pain. I got her when she was 5 and she had a hard life medically, but being our baby we didn’t hesitate to do whatever it took to take care of her! She used to sleep with me; on my face, every night until she left me for our oldest boy (8) and became his best friend.
We had always wanted littermates and so after searching for and meeting lots of cats, we found the most wonderful, happy, laid-back orange male 4 month old kittens at the humane society. They are perfect and we are so in love! They both were treated for upper respiratory infections and seemed to get better, but the smaller one, Kylo, didn’t bounce back like Kas and never kicked his fever. He also had a bad eye infection that took almost a month to heal. After 3 more visits, another round of antibiotics, 2 rounds of anti-virals, a Covenia shot, a fast-acting antibiotic and fluids, Kylo was diagnosed with FIP. We are heartbroken. Oh course, he’s the kitten that sleeps with our same boy who just lost his previous best friend.
I desperately want to try to new FIP treatment for Kylo, but am struggling to pay for it. We’ve already spent so much on vet care for him, and with 4 little boys and Kas, we need some help in order to get the meds and take care of the vet care that goes with it. I can’t give up in him! He’s our family now and we promised to take care of him just like any other family member. We have to try to help him! I have never done a GoFundMe before, but I would be so very grateful for any help you could give towards us trying to save Kylo’s life.
