FIP Warrior:

Kiyo

Hi everyone, My name is Nada and I’m fundraising to save the life of my 9-month old baby Kiyo. After tragically losing my beloved 10-year-old cat (Aiko) back in April of this year (from DKA), Kiyo unexpectedly came into my life and immediately brought happiness and helped fill the huge empty space that Aiko left behind. Alvin, who is Aiko’s cat brother, was very depressed (he had to be put on antidepressants) after Aiko passed, and Kiyo also made him feel much better…. he is truly a gift to us. When I first brought Kiyo home, he was perfectly healthy, running everywhere and doing typical kitten things. But, about 2 months later, he started eating less, coughing/sneezing, and being lethargic. He had some bloodwork done and there were 5 FIP markers in his blood, as well as diagnosed anemia. However, the vet suspected that he might have HCM too, so he suggested that we wait for a diagnosis before starting anything. So, I called a cardiologist for an X-Ray. After multiple visits to the ER and many sleepless nights (he had difficulty breathing, so he needed diuretic injections and oxygen therapy), he ended up being diagnosed with both dry FIP and HCM…My vet immediately suggested euthanasia, but, obviously, I couldn’t do it. They gave me some meds for his heart condition and we went back home. The day after, Kiyo started developing neurological symptoms of FIP. He lost control of his tail, couldn’t walk straight, couldn’t jump without falling, dilated pupils, laying on the floor all day, etc. I immediately decided to start with the FIP treatment. 12 hours later, Kiyo was already feeling better. After 2 days of treatment, he started eating on his own (I syringe-fed him before that) and attempting to play/run for the first time in months! I couldn’t believe it. It honestly felt like he was brought back from the dead, that’s how miraculous this treatment is for him right now. Tomorrow, we are going to hit the 2 week mark, but I’m struggling to pay for the rest of his treatment. Being a full-time uni student, I can’t afford such expenses (he’s also gaining weight, so his treatment is getting more expensive by the day), but I truly want the best for him, so I’m asking for your help in Kiyo’s fight against FIP. Thank you so much, I would be beyond grateful for any donation anybody is able to make to help keep Kiyo with us, every dollar counts.
