FIP Warrior:

Jindui

Jindui was found sick in Sep 2018. We first noticed him not willing to eat and not as playful as before. Then a few days later, he had fever wax and wane. Wo took him to the vet and tried antibiotics but didnt work on him. Two weeks later we found two huge mesenteric lymph nodes and FNA result suggested that poor Jindui had high possibility of FIP. We were desperate yet still would like to make him feel better. So we started PI for two weeks. However, PI didn’t help as expected and Jindui was being weaker and weaker. His pupils were dilated and not responding to light anymore and his hind legs were very weak, he was not willing to move or walk. I was desperate on 10th Oct 2018 because he was dying. Fortunately, I reached to a GS source and started our treatment. His fever was gone in just one shot. However, I had no idea of the correct dosage so I used 2.5mg/kg for 12 weeks. I did not know this was too low for a neurological FIP cat and we stopped even when his globulin was higher than the normal range. Unfortunately he relapsed after stopping GS for few days. After noticing fever on day 6 post treatment, I restart the treatment right away at high dosage (7.5mg/kg). After 13 weeks of the second treatment, his globulin reached 4.8 which is the high end of the normal range. We were hoping to further suppress the globulin to below 4.5 and so we kept GS treatment. However, after two months (at week 21), his globulin was still stick at 4.8. We were desperated and wrote to Dr. Pedersen for advices. Dr. Pedersen was very kind to analysis out case abd suggested that this might be the normal value of Jindui. After a long struggle we stopped the treatment after 21 weeks of the second round of treatment. It is day 17 of post treatment and Jindui was doing great!!! I would like to express my greatest THANKS to the GS and GC research team and especially thanks to Dr. Pedersen who was always kind to help me when I got lost.
