FIP Warrior:

Hershey

Hershey my 1.5 year old Maine Coon had a new flea medication on Sunday by Sunday night I noticed he hadn't eaten much by Wednesday he was skinny bloated and having issues breathing I took him to the vets thinking I would be given a dose of antibiotics for him instead I was given the diagnosis of either lymphoma or wet FIP I was devastated they recommend I put him down straight away as his breathing was so laboured. I took him home to say goodbye I was told they didn't expect him to survive the night that he would crash not to expect much that euthanasia was the only thing we could do. I was contacted that night by our guardian angel Johanna another Maine Coon breeder to contact her friend Dimmi to test out this new drug to fight the FIP within 24 hours Hershey had his first dose he survived the night and I could see in his eyes he wasn't ready to give up. From 3 hourly syriange feeding and sleeping on the couch to make sure he is breathing to the very next day after 1st dose he actually walked to his bowel and meowed for food for the first time in days he didn't ear more than a few spoons but I felt like every small battle won would move us closer to getting better. The first 2 weeks he slept alot ate a bit more his belly started going down he showed some improvement by starting to clean himself and showed intetest in toys. Blood work was looking promising at week 4. About week 5 he thought he was all good ran around like crazy we came home one day to find him breathing heavy rushed to the vet where they found his lung full of fluid and removed 300ml of bloody turbid fluid he immediately felt better and next day after like nothing had happened somehow bloods still looked ok. By week 8 he was a whole new cat the amount of weight he put on and continuing to put on was amazing blood work was perfect. At week 11 and 5 days short of 12 weeks we ended treatment as we ran out of medication and funding his blood work was still perfect and from 4.2kg at his worst he had gone up to over 6kg and he's still growing. I'm continuesly amazed by my warrior boy and I'm internally grarefull for all his guardian angels without your help we would have made it .#teamhershey
