FIP Warrior:

Harvey

In September, we adopted our sweet boys Harvey (orange and white) and Roady (all white). They have been ours for nearly four months now, and we have fallen in love with them. They bring us so much joy and happiness.

Just before Christmas, we noticed that Harvey was more lethargic than normal and had begun to walk strangely. We took him to the emergency vet only to be told he likely had something wrong with his hip, so we were given an anti-inflammatory and sent on our way. After two days he had not improved at all, so we took him to our regular vet, who ran a number of blood tests to try to figure out what was wrong with our sweet boy. She gave us her top three possibilities, so we began researching treatments for each of them. We also started Harvey on some antibiotics to see if his fever would respond. On December 30th, we got the worst news we could have gotten: Harvey has Feline Infectious Peritonitis, or FIP, which until recently was considered fatal in every case.

In our research we discovered that there is in fact a treatment that has proven to be extremely successful in curing cats of FIP. It will require daily injections given at home by us and careful monitoring of Harvey's blood work by our vet. The total cost of Harvey's treatment could be anywhere from $2,000-$3,000, but we don't want to give up on him without a fight. We would be so grateful for any help you can give us in providing this life saving treatment for our kitty.
