Hello everyone, I would like to introduce you to Tilou, my two-and-a-half-year-old cat, who has just been diagnosed with neurological FIP after several very difficult weeks. It all started suddenly when he became unstable on his hind legs, with difficulty controlling his pelvis and episodes of loss of balance, shortly after taking a deworming treatment. His condition then became more complicated when he developed severe constipation, requiring veterinary care and an enema under anesthesia. He also suffered significant blood loss and developed anemia, along with weight loss and severe overall weakness. Blood tests eventually revealed several abnormalities consistent with FIP: persistent anemia, severe hypergammaglobulinemia, a very low albumin-to-globulin ratio, as well as clinical and neurological signs strongly suggestive of the disease. After discussing his condition with our veterinarian, we started a specific antiviral treatment for FIP based on GS-441524 here in France. Today, after 5 days of treatment, he is still fighting. His overall condition has already improved: he is eating better, moving around more and playing again. However, his neurological problems and the instability of his hind legs are still present and will require time, prolonged treatment and regular veterinary monitoring. FIP treatment is very expensive in France, on top of the many veterinary consultations and procedures that have already been necessary since the beginning of his illness. We want to give him every possible chance to make a full recovery and complete his treatment.
