FIP Warrior:

Carrot

Carrot had a hard start in life. He came from a stray littler that we rescued when the kittens were four weeks ago. They had a severe flea infestation and most did not survive the blood loss. Little Carrot had a fighting spirit and was successfully treated with a blood transfusion. It was discovered that he had an enlarged heart likely due to anemia. Carrot fully recovered and soon after he was cleared started having some diarrhea. Little Carrot was treated with probiotics and a special diet and showed some improvement. However, on week in early December 2025, Carrot started vomiting, showing inappetence, and significantly worsened diarrhea. Our sweet Carrot had to be admitted to ICU where he was treated for four days. At the end of the tests and treatment Carrot was diagnosed with persumptive FIP. We were shocked. We started the GS medication on December 9, 2025. It took a couple days for his body and spirit to recover from being in the hospital and for the medicine to take effect. Very soon, however, he was back to being his sprightly, mischeveous self with so much energy! He has just been the sweetest through the course of the treatment. He is such a good boy. He gently takes his medicine twice a day without any struggles and then bounces off to resume playing. We are three days away from completing the medicine, and he is the best he's ever been! We say "yay, Carrot!" as often as we can to affirm and encourage him. He's doing great. Such a good boy. He charms all the vets and techs that he sees with purrs and cuddles. He really is is the hero in this because his nature uplifts everyone around him. He is a fighter and a gift.
