View All FIP WarriorsMillie is a 25 week old kitten who we rescued at the very young age of 3 weeks old. Her life wasn’t easy from the start when a not so nice human threw her and a sibling over someone’s fence and just walked away. Thankfully we were able to take Millie into our home.
Just a few weeks ago, our sweet orange girl was knocking on death’s door.
Millie developed suspected dry/neurologic FIP. She lost strength in her back legs, became wobbly and weak, developed a fever, and at one point could barely lift her head. There were moments she couldn’t walk at all.
We prepared ourselves for the possibility of helping her cross the rainbow bridge. We held her, prayed over her, and told her how deeply she was loved.
But Millie wasn’t ready.
We started antiviral treatment immediately, and slowly she began to fight her way back.
First she lifted her head.
Then she sat up.
Then she stood.
Then she climbed stairs again for the first time in over a month.
Now she plays with her favorite green snake, sharpens her claws, runs from me when I try to wipe her paws, and reaches for my hand just like she did before she got sick.
Neurologic FIP is one of the hardest forms to overcome, but Millie has shown us what strength and determination look like in the smallest body.
She is still healing. Some days are stronger than others. But she is here. She is fighting. And we are so incredibly grateful.
She is going on week 3 of treatment and so far she keeps getting stronger and stronger each day.
