FIP Warrior:

Cairo

Cairo is now a year old and healthy, he lives with his two littermates Mabel and Copernicus with the humans who fostered and foster failed them all. Cairo was brought to our rescue with his mama as a new born and was a completely normal kitten up to the age of 4 months, it started with him being extremely clingy almost like he was begging his fosters to keep him. He put socks from the laundry hamper under their christmas tree and was adopted by them Christmas Eve. Little did we know Cairo somehow knew why he had to stay with them. Shortly after being adopted he started having seizures, not eating, being very lethargic and had bad diarrhea…when at VEG he got diagnosed with neurological / dry FIP. Cairo also turned out to have an extremely rare condition that affects his blood glucose levels (presents similarly to Addisons disease but so far hasn’t been diagnosable) Cairo spent the first weeks - months on treatment going to different vets, emergency groups and specialists with his adopters to try and figure out the full picture. It was suggested to euthanize Cairo multiple times but no one would give up on him and rightly so. Cairo seemed better after his first round of FIP treatment but relapsed a week and a half later.. After 2 rounds of treatment Cairo is cured and living his best life. Since the glucose condition was detected Cairo has been on low dose steroids and anti-seizure medication and has been doing amazing. We couldn’t have saved him without the knowledge from FIP groups, we’re very thankful.
