FIP Warrior:

hurley

hello all!:) my partner and i adopted a kitten back in october from our local cat cafe who immediately stole our hearts. after brining him home, he meshed with our other 3 kitties right away, particularly finding a best friend in our other boy cat, finan. we brought him to the vet for a wellness check roughly two weeks after adoption and they informed us that he had a yeast infection in his ears and prescribed mometamax.  after three weeks of treatment, vet bills, and confusion, his overall wellbeing declined drastically and he had temporarily lost hearing in his left ear. during the three weeks, he slowly stopped eating, drinking, playing with the other cats, and became a shell of a kitten, just existing. the vet had no clue what was going on and said they had never seen any case like his before. they recommended contacting the humane society to see if they can help run more thorough diagnostics or to euthanize.

the next day, the humane society took him in and deemed it to be dry FIP with ocular involvement. they told my boyfriend and i that we could either do hospice at home for him, they could keep him until he passed, or we could join a group on facebook, FIP warriors to to get help with treatment. the fellow warriors in the group immediately helped us acquire the medicine and begin at home injections for our 84 day journey. after the first two injections, he was once again eating, drinking, using the bathroom, and returning to his normal kitten self compared to being basically a shell of a cat. as of 12/28/23, we are on day 15 and he is having such a blast with his brother, finan again. we are raising these funds to help with the cost of the medication for his daily injections and for his bloodwork (required at 30, 60, and 90) days. we are so so happy to have our little guy happy and on the road to recovery. with each day that passes, the light at the end of the tunnel gets closer! any remaining funds will be donated to our local humane society!(:
