FIP Warrior:

Puck

Puck was my first ever cat. I grew up with dogs, hamsters, rats, frogs, lizards, and fish. But never a cat because my Dad and sister were most severely allergic to them. But I had been wanting a cat for years before a neighbor found Puck about 6 weeks old and couldn’t keep him. I took him in, got rid of the huge amount of fleas, got him a friend, trained him to walk on a leash, go on adventures, do tricks (he loves the outside but there’s no way I’d let him be an outdoor cat, so this was our compromise). I got him a brother from a shelter. I realized cats were just MY animal. They fit me, my life, my personality. And I fit theirs I suppose.. A year and 3 months into having Puck brighten my every day I noticed a cloudy eye, paired with lethargy and anorexia. We went to the vet immediately, got eye drops and an appetite stimulant and he was back to normal in a few days and for a month…until the same thing happened again exactly a month later. Cloudy eye in the other eye, anorexia, lethargy, but WORSE he wouldn’t even entertain his favorite treat. And a slight limp on his hind leg. We went back in and that was the first time I heard of FIP. But the mentioned “a Facebook group that could help” I spent the whole night, the next two days reading every peice of information the internet had to offer of FIP. FIP warriors got me meds within 24 hours. He’s been on them for one month now. We’ve seen improvements we didn’t even realize were a sickness. We thought his decrease in energy just meant he wasn’t a kitten anymore… now on this medication he’s yowling to go outside again. He constantly wants to play. We are so optimistic about Pucks recovery. Luckily my vet caught on so early…the neuro symptoms waxing and waning could have delayed us months if we had someone else. So thankful for this community🩷
