FIP Warrior:

Klaus

Klaus is the sweetest cat you will ever meet! He loves his beard (my husband), hes a prolific biscuit baker, and is generally blissfully unaware of his plights and just wants love and snuggles.

Unfortunately, Klaus was diagnosed with Feline Infection Peritonitis (FIP) on his 1st birthday. He has been in a battle for his life ever since.
In November of 2022, we rescued Klaus and his littermate Loki. We had just tragically lost our beloved cat, Zoe, to mammary cancer and we were all so broken hearted. We knew we wanted to rescue a pair of cats in honor of Zoe to get back some of that spark that cats bring to our lives. Loki and Klaus (previously Cashew and Pistachio) have brought so much joy back into our lives. We rescued them from the Tri-County Humane Society where they were in rough shape due to being from a hoarding situation. We poured in all our love and support to help the kitties thrive and despite all the medicine and blood draws and vet visits, Klaus maintained his love of aggressive face snuggles, making biscuits, sticking out the tip of his tongue at all times, and being the happiest lap cat ever. Sadly this was not enough to cure him.

When we received the diagnosis of FIP we were told it is 100% lethal and our best option is to euthanize. For us, that was not an option. Klaus had so much life to live. We needed more time. His brother, Loki, needed him. We discovered the FIP Warriors snd within 12 hours of learning of this amazing support network, we began treatment. Today should have been the day he was able to stop taking medicine and start living his life FIP free. For Klaus, that did not happen. Instead of celebrating we are looking at starting the treatment plan over and more aggressively to rid his small body of FIP.

Klaus has been sick since the day we rescued him, at 4 months of age. We look forward to seeing him live his best, long life FIP free with all the cuddles and love a family could possibly give. He deserves that!
